Opening
In 1992 Joris left the Netherlands with his double bass to move to New York and the only person he knew in America was trombone legend Slide Hampton. In 1991 Joris toured with Slide in Germany, who told him: “call me when you get to New York”. Then Slide called bass legend Ron Carter and told him: “you got to hear this Dutch guy and take him as your student”. So now Joris knew only 2 people in America: Slide and Ron. A great start! Currently Joris is still living in the two cities that made him.
